Well I knew my peeing on a stick obsession would never allow me to wait the full 2 weeks but I didn't expect to crack at just 5 dpo. I know, I know its impossible to get a positive result this early but I just can't help it. What's worse I tested again today. With another 7 days to go and only 2 tests left its not looking good..
And what are all these symptoms that are driving me to test..erm....I've been really thristy the last few days.... This is one of the first symptoms I got with my previous pregnancies. However, it could also mean that the heating is up too high (which it has been) and then I woke up this morning with a stiff neck. I was surprised to find out after googling that this is an early pregnancy symptom..no really...check here AND she had one of my other symptoms - a, ahem, a stuffy nose. Ok, I agree this is getting totally ridiculous but then again I suffered with a blocked nose all through my other 2 pregnancies (just can't remember if it started this early).
Ahhh, any mad symptom you come up with you can always get someone to agree that its a sign. Tomorrow I imagine I'll be googling 'obssessional googling - early pregnancy symptom?'..

And we're off
We'll it finally looks like I ovulated. Hubby breathed a sigh of relief when I told him. It seems baby making has been less exciting and more of a drudge than he was expecting.
I'm now in what they call the '2 week wait' period or 2WW. I'm not that patient though and there is no way I can wait two weeks. I've already been googling the earliest possible time that you can get a positive result from a pregnancy test and the answer seems to be 7 days. Pregnancy tests detect HCG levels which your body does not produce until after implantation occurs. The consensus seems to be that the earliest date for implantation is 6 days but for most women it happens between 8 and 10 days. So to avoid just completely throwing money away, I need to wait until Monday at the very least - every day after that is a bonus..
Whoever invented the early pregnancy test is an absolute genius. Instead of waiting until your period is late and taking the test to confirm what you already suspect, you get to buy dozen of tests over the months of trying to conceive (and I know I'm not the only mad women out there that goes test crazy!!)
It was Mother's day on Sunday. I feel a little strange about celebrating mothers day. I associate it with my mother and women of my mother's age. I feel too young to go for Mother's day lunch - with a 3 and 1 year old it would be too crazy anyway! No, we'll be leaving that one until the boys are old enough to organise it themselves - maybe I'll feel mature enough then... It was a great day though. I received two very cute hand made cards from my little boys which had their hand prints painted on them. Oh, and my not so subtle hint was picked up and I received the changing bag that I was after as a mother day gift - Yea!! It arrived a little late (Mental note- next time I blog my wish list, I must give more notice!!!). Love it though - it looks better than I expected.
Well must get back to google - need to check if 6 days dpo is reeeally the earliest possible date for implantation...

The boys are in bed and I've just spent the last few hours designing my own calendar. Given that its mid March it just goes to show how completely disorganised I am. Lucky the site that I'm using allows you to start your calendar from any month so mine will go April 2010 - March 2011.
I'm using Bob Books. You download software from their site, select a layout and add your photos - its pretty cool! Mine will be photos of my two boys - surprise, surprise... I've learnt from past experience when making your children's calendar do not include any photos of aunts, uncles, cousins, etc.. or if you do make sure you include everyone. Last time I did this, I naively picked photos based on the best shots that I had only later to discover that what I had apparently actually done was indicate who my favourite neices and nephews were, who was the best aunt/grand parent, etc....so my 2010 calendar will only have shots of my boys..

So bored......
Today is CD 17. According to Fertility Friend I have not ovulated yet. Not much of a concern yet because my cycles tend to be a bit long but I'm armed with 5 pregnancy tests and I'm all ready to start googling whether anyone else experienced a sore toe (or whatever other random symptom I'm feeling next week) and later found out they were pregnant. I'm boooored...
Actually, I am a tiny bit concerned. I should be eating healthy. PCOS, which I have and which can make conceiving difficult, is linked to insulin resistance. When you are insulin resistant, your body tries to compensate by producing more insulin. This can trigger excess productions of androgens like testosterone which can intefere with your fertility. One way to help control this is to stick to a low GI diet. So sugar is bad...
My diet is normally ok (not perfect but ok) but this month has been terrible - take-aways, cakes, chocolate - just awful... Well hopefully fertility friend will tell me that I've ovulated soon. Then I can stop feeling guilty about the diet and start obsessing over the earliest date to get a positive result!

I'm on the look out for a new changing bag. My old bag was stolen recently during an outing with the boys. I suppose it was bound to happen at some stage - I'm careless at the best of times. Add two demanding boys and you have one distracted Mammma.
I've had the bag since my eldest was born so it was beginning to look a bit worn around the edges but it looked like a handbag and I guess whoever took it was expecting it to contain a wallet, a mobile phone or something else of value - something more interesting than its actual contents:
- 4 nappies
- 1/2 jar of sudocream
- packet of wipes
- couple of nappy bags
- 1 dirty bib
- 2 bottles
- dirty spoon
- 1/2 jar of some tasty baby food
Ahh, I would have loved to see their faces as they surveyed their ill gotten gains...hee hee...
So back to the bag - I really like the Il Tutto Chiara Red Changing bag. Its pretty pricey at £249 though but its nearly mothers day so who knows!!
Maybe though I should get something a bit more daddy friendly. I really like the Storksak Unisex bag. Brad Pitt has been spotted with it.

Birthday boy
The party went great! The cookie monster cake went down really well although there were some awkward moments as we try to decide how to cut it. Decapating the cookie monster is probably not something you want to do in a room full of kids!!
The birthday boy had a great time and got loads of new toys. Here are his favourites:
Bounce & Spin Zebra
His eyes lit up as soon as he saw this
My First Phone
He is always playing with the house phone (he's even learned how to child lock the phone so that we can't use it) so it wasn't a big surprise that he loves this. He likes the way the screen lights up and its on wheels with a string which is great because he likes to pull everything along behind him these days.
Baby Learn & Sort Helicopter
He loves all the sounds this makes as he inserts the balls and its another toys he gets to pull along

The cookie monster and scary elephants
Our little guy is turning 1 next week - its hard to believe. He's no longer a baby, very much a toddler. In the last few weeks he's learnt how to child lock the phone so that we can't use it, setup the tv to record his random set of programs and switches off the pc whilst we are typing. He's lots of fun though!!
We are having a small family celebration tomorrow. The cake arrived from the Cake Store today. It's a cookie monster cake and I'm really happy with how its turned out. Also went shopping for party supplies today and amongst other things I bought a large helium elephant balloon. Our sons reaction to this has really surprised me. He keeps screaming everytime he sees it. At first we thought he was afraid of it but he screams louder when we take it away. He keeps pulling at the cord and getting angry with it. Its as if he thinks the balloon is not bending to his will. If he keeps it up we might literally have to burst his balloon.
